Monitoring a UPS with Nagios

Daren Matthews wrote this check_ups plugin to facilitate monitoring of a number of UPS vendor products.  To use the plugin you will need to install UPSD daemon distributed with Russel Kroll’s Smart UPS Tools be installed on the remote host.

Nagios: Anatomy of an RPM using NRPE and the packaged nrpe.spec

This article will deal with the anatomy of a RPM. Building an RPM is not hard. However, configuring the RPM for you environment can be confusing. RPMs enable the system administrator and more importantly, the organization, to painlessly deploy and upgrade packages that are custom created for the environment. RPMs file nicely into any enterprises SDLC and can be initiated through Change Management.
